The beauty of Granada has been sung about on many occasions. Amazed by its loveliness the Catholic monarchs conquered it and Carlos 5th made it the capital for the romantic travellers of the 16th Century. And it is no wonder, owed to the monuments, the streets, squares and fountains of Moorish influence, and the view of the city from the heights of the Alhambra.
Granada is a city of water: it has two rivers, Genil and Darro, fountains in the squares, gardens, and water channels. The water comes down from the snow of the Sierra Nevada and flows into the city creating gardens of dreams that recreate our feelings with its sounds, perfumes and scenery.
The Alhambra, residence of the Nazaritas kings is a beautiful Arabic palace that joins architecture and nature to create an authentic worldly paradise. Palaces, gardens, fountains, towers and walls, all combine with the beautiful backdrop of the Sierra Nevada to create one of the most beautiful monuments in the world. It is essential to visit.
And not only the Alhambra. Granada has many other monuments, overshadowed many times by the Alhambra, but they deserve spending various days there too. The Cathedral and the Royal Chapel, the monasteries of San Jeronimo and La Cartuja, the arab palace of Daralhorra, the Moorish houses of Chapiz, are some of the many monuments that embellish the city.
The two areas with most character are the Albaicin and the Realejo, largely reminiscent of the Moors, with narrow passageways, enclosed houses and beautiful panoramas .In these areas we see the granadine house in its excellence: the Carmen, where the living area adjoins the garden and the land.
But Granada is not only an old city. It is a modern city as well, with innumerable businesses. It is a university city, with one of the largest universities in Andalucia, offering ample, varied night life. Granada has everything: beauty, culture, entertainment.

Believing or not in the superstition the monkeys are very cheeky! Descending the rock there is free time to shop on main street, where one can buy everything, from the latest fashion and the famous 100% cotton.
the excursion to Antequera is highly recommended, especially for those that enjoy walking around the historical streets, admiring the architecture and appreciating the churches and cultural legacy. Only for the glorious centuries of history and the passing through of different civilizations beautiful cities like Antequera have evolved. Pass by the Real Colegiata de Santa Maria la Mayor (XVI) renaissance period, and the Alcazaba, both declared a national monuments. Enjoy the Municipal Museum situated in the Palace of Najera (XVIII) baroque style and the Convent of Carmen, (Carmelitas Calzados) with mudejar architecture and the three impressive altar pieces of the main chapel.
The Natural Park of El Torcal de Antequera amazes the visitor with its unique landscape of sculptured stone made by rock formation. Like a petrified city appearing in an unreal world, chiselled shapes have been formed by the passing of time, the wind, rain and erosion. The beauty of this environment can only be appreciated by walking through it, and words and photos are not enough to describe with certainty the majestic vision of El Torcal. Some of the natural formations from the water and carbonic anhydride form rock resemble columns and spirits. Many have been christened with names such as “The Virgin” , “The Sphinx” or “The Camel”
